Spartanburg Water’s Flagship Wastewater Treatment Facility Receives National Award for Five Years

July 16th 2026

SPARTANBURG - A. Manning Lynch Wastewater Treatment Facility was recently awarded the Five-Year Directors Award by the Partnership for Clean Water. Spartanburg Water’s largest wastewater treatment facility was recognized with the prestigious award at the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) International Conference held in Washington, DC.

This award exemplifies the tremendous dedication and focuses of each wastewater treatment operator and wastewater professional at Spartanburg Water,” said Spartanburg Water Vice President of Plant and Field Operations, Rick Jolley. “This award is data-driven and drives process excellence.”

The primary mission of the Partnership for Clean Water is to enhance the quality of effluent water discharged from wastewater treatment plants. By optimizing operations, the partnership seeks to exceed current regulatory requirements and ensure environmental protection and public health.

The Partnership for Clean Water is a global optimization and recognition program for wastewater utilities. It was established as a parallel program to the Partnership for Safe Water, which has successfully been helping drinking water utilities optimize performance for 30 years. The Partnership offers self-assessment and optimization programs so that operators, managers, and administrators have the tools to improve performance above and beyond even proposed regulatory levels.
