Spartanburg Water, a water and wastewater utility provider is seeking an intern to support the company within the Wastewater Services Department. Works hand-in-hand with Spartanburg Water professionals operating, maintaining and conducting continuous improvement research for treating wastewater. If you have a genuine interest in environmental sciences and would like to have a hands on experience in serving the community while being a good steward to the environment, this is the internship for you!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in field operations at Waste Water Treatment Facilities (WWTF) throughout Spartanburg County
- Assists in collecting/analyzing process samples while recording results
- Supports day to day administrative/organizational functions at the WWTF for all departments including
-Operations, Industrial Pretreatment and Above Ground Maintenance
- Performs comparative research on efficiency of current operational/scientific practices versus other potential practices
- Accomplishes data entry and assists in presenting research through compilation of results into graphical analysis
Requirements
- Enrollment in an institution of higher learning or certification program with an emphasis in environmental studies or relatable subject
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work out-of-doors and also inside a laboratory with equal enthusiasm
