Industrial partners help us meet us EPA standards

May 21, 2019.

It’s not the most pleasant subject to talk about…wastewater; but it is an important topic, and here’s why. By treating wastewater before it’s released into our sewer collection and treatment system, commercial and industrial facilities help to remove harmful pollutants that could otherwise reach our streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans.

To encourage industrial companies to follow this safe practice, the EPA developed an Industrial Pretreatment Program. Here at Spartanburg Water, we based our pretreatment program on federal, state and local requirements outlined in the program.

We are proud to recognize the following eight companies that were 100 percent compliant with their industrial wastewater permits for the 2018 calendar year:

  • Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel, LLC
  • Lubrizol Advanced Materials
  • Michelin North America – US3
  • Milliken & Company
  • Parker Hannifin – O Ring Division and Engineering Seals Division TechSeal – Operations
  • Siemens Industry Inc.
  • Synthomer USA, LLC
  • Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas, Inc.

By meeting the standards and regulatory requirements outlined in their Industrial Pretreatment Discharge Permits, these companies help Spartanburg Water in keeping our customers, sewer systems, and receiving streams safe.
