8th Annual Paddle Fest brings added event to Lake Bowen
May 8, 2019.
If you love spending time on the water, get excited for this! For the first time, Spartanburg Water’s signature paddling event, Paddle Fest, is holding an equal number of events at Lake Blalock and Lake Bowen. Last year marked a milestone when we added one event at Lake Bowen. We experienced a high level of interest in that session, so this year, we’re giving you an extra opportunity to take part in classes there.
Once again, four monthly Paddle Fest events will be offered this year, with two Educational Paddle Tour sessions held at each location and to accommodate those with other commitments, two classes are scheduled for evening. Three Saturdays and one weekday event are scheduled for May through August.
The dates and event descriptions are:
- Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m. - 12p.m.: Lake Bowen Park, click here to register.
- Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. - 12p.m.: Lake Blalock Park, click here to register.
- Saturday, July 20, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.: Lake Blalock Park, click here to register.
- Tuesday, August 13, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.: Lake Bowen Park, click here to register.
Don’t wait to sign up - each session size is limited to 20 and they fill up quickly. You’re encouraged to bring your own kayaks, canoes and safety equipment. A limited supply of each will be available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. All the sessions are free, but registration is required online by going here or by calling the Wardens’ Office at (864) 592-2240 in order to attend.
After your session, you’ll have daylong access to the lakes and can purchase an annual permit for non-powered boats valid for use on both lakes for only $5.
