Spartanburg Water to test hydrants during alternate hours

Sunday, October 20, 2019

To keep our community safe by maintaining resources for first responders, Spartanburg Water began performing routine hydrant flow testing on Sunday, October 20.

The tests will be conducted on Pine Street, Highway 9, and other high traffic areas in the City. Crews will work an alternate shift, from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. each day through Wednesday, October 23.

Performing work during these hours is safer for our employees and the public, and is also less disruptive to traffic.

Hydrant flow testing is a crucial and regular part of Spartanburg Water’s operation. It ensures public safety in the event of a fire by testing for adequate water supply.

Just as we are committed to protecting public health by supplying clean, quality drinking water, we are committed to protecting public safety in the event of an emergency.
