Woodland Street closed for water line replacement

September 6, 2019

As part of its aging infrastructure replacement program, Spartanburg Water is replacing the existing waterline on Woodland Street from the intersection with S. Pine Street to Mills Avenue.

This work will require Woodland Street from S. Pine Street to Mills Avenue and Hale Street at Woodland Street to be barricaded and closed to all thru traffic for an extended period beginning Monday, September 9, 2019.

In addition, traffic control devices will be in placed on S. Pine Street. Traffic will be diverted north or south on S. Pine Street with a detour established on Poplar Street for those needing to return to Woodland Street. Residents on Woodland Street within the work zone will be allowed access from Mills Avenue.

Work will also be required in the intersection of South Pine Street and Woodland Street necessitating lane closures on South Pine Street. Spartanburg Water crews will be performing this work at night, allowing all lanes on South Pine Street to be open during daylight hours.

Spartanburg Water realizes the closure of Woodland Street will be disruptive, but it will provide the safest environment for the traveling public and for Spartanburg Water employees while working to replace this aging infrastructure. An alternate route during peak traffic hours is suggested.
