Spartanburg Water recognized for excellence by South Carolina Chamber of Commerce

Eleven Spartanburg Water departments recently qualified for the presentation of Commendation of Excellence Safety Program Awards for their 2017 safety performance. The S.C. Chamber of Commerce awarded the utility for its safety program at the annual S.C. Chamber of Commerce Safety Awards Luncheon in Columbia.

The following departments and facilities were recognized for their performance:

  • Customer Service
  • Drinking Water Treatment
  • Engineering
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Laboratory Services
  • Purchasing
  • Reclaimed Water Treatment
  • Spartanburg Water Maintenance
  • Watershed Management

“These commendations are a validation of the great work that we do at Spartanburg Water,” said Chief Operating Officer Bobby Walden. “We are proud of the culture of safety that our dedicated employees and managers have developed.”

ABOUT SPARTANBURG WATER: Spartanburg Water, an award-winning utility, is comprised of Spartanburg Water System and Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District. It serves a population of nearly 200,000 within Spartanburg County, as well as others in parts of Greenville, Union and Cherokee counties. With the help of its dedicated team of more than 250 employees, each day it produces an average of 25 million gallons of drinking water and cleans 12 million gallons of reclaimed water for its customers and community.
