Spartanburg Water has developed a watershed approach to managing the environmental assets within its reservoirs. To better protect and enhance the water quality in the reservoirs, to maintain and minimize disturbance of the buffer zone owned by SWS around the lakes, and to provide safe recreation for all users of the lake, Spartanburg Water has developed Lake Policies and Procedures, the Lake Blalock Buffer Management Plan and the Marine Structures Guidance Document.
Landowners adjoining Lake Bowen interested in adding a structure or modifying vegetation within the Spartanburg Water buffer area are required to apply for a permit specific to the request. Modifications to vegetation and any structure like dock replacements, boat lifts, walkways, etc., must go through the normal permitting procedure each time a project or modification is requested by the landowner.
Permits issued for the applied project will remain valid as long as the permittee remains the current addressee and does not violate any policies and procedures outlined in the Lake Bowen Application for Permit(s).
